Ancient Pi and the Sphinx, Part I

April Vihilidal asks fellow students at UNM to Blog.

April Vihilidal shared her discovery on Monday, March 4th, 2019 with her Public Speaking class taught by Professor Keisuke Kimura. The class was held at UNM’s Communications and Journalism Building. April Vihilidal’s discovery is called, “Ancient Pi and the Sphinx, Part I.”

A Vihilida’s discovery is based upon three separate, yet integrated foundations. These foundations are Archeo-astronomy, Mnemonics, and the Mathematical Construct, Ancient Pi, 3. 14 28 57 (Ancient Pi can be described as 22/7 = 3. 14 28 57…)

Terms Defined

Archeo-astronomy is the study of ancient megalithic structures in relationship to a celestial body. In this case, it is the study of the Sphinx in relationship to the sun, the center of our solar system.

Mnemonic Systems are techniques or strategies consciously used to improve memory.

In this instance, A Vihilidal uses Model Mnemonics and Connection Mnemonics.

In Model Mnemonics, a model is used to help recall information. In this instance, the model is of the Sphinx.

In Connection Mnemonics, new knowledge is connected to knowledge already known. In this instance, A Vihilidal connects the Three Main Solar Events at the Sphinx to Ancient Pi, 3. 14 28 57…

Ancient Pi and the Sphinx as Mnemonic Devices

The Three Main Solar Events of the year at the Sphinx remembered through Model Mnemonics, and Connection Mnemonics are:

The Equinoxes:  The days nights are equal in duration. There are two in total, the Vernal Equinox, and the Autumnal Equinox.

The Cross Quarters: The days exactly between the Equinoxes and the Solstices. There are four in total.

The Solstices:  There are two in total, the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year.

Ancient Pi, A Mathematical Construct as a Mnemonic Device 3.14 28 57…

The Sphinx faces 0 degrees due east.

The two Equinoxes happen at 0 degrees due east from the gaze of the Sphinx.

The Cross Quarters happen at 14 degrees right and left of due east from the gaze of the Sphinx.

The Solstices happen at 28 degrees right and left of due east from the gaze of the Sphinx.

The Latitude and Longitude of the Sphinx

At the latitude and longitude of the Sphinx from one Solstice at 28 degrees right of due east from the gaze of the Sphinx, to the other Solstice is 57 degrees left of that aforementioned Solstice.

At the latitude and longitude of the Sphinx from one Solstice at 28 degrees left of due east from the gaze of the Sphinx, to the other Solstice is 57 degrees right of that aforementioned Solstice.

Blog Question 1:

Did the Ancient Egyptian Architects/Astronomers encode this message into the latitude and longitude of the Sphinx?

Blog Question 2:

Has this meme, Ancient Pi, 3.14 28 57…, been encoded into the sunrises, at the Sphinx on the Three Main Solar Events of the year, the Equinoxes from 0 degrees, to the Cross Quarters at 14 degrees, and to the Solstices at 28 degrees, and then from Solstice to Solstice at 57 degrees?

Blog Question 3:

Has this meme,
Ancient Pi, 3.14 28 57…, in the sun rises at the Sphinx, survived the sands of time, like the proverbial, ‘message in a bottle,’ set adrift thousands of years ago by the Ancient Astronomers and Architects of the Sphinx?

Blog Question 4:

Is this discovery simply a coincidence discovered by April Vihilidal, whose focuses of study happen to be Archeo-astronomy, Mathematics, along with Mnemonics, and has no meaning other than a mere memory device of modern time to recall the sunrises at the Sphinx on the Three Main Solar Events of the year?
